Maybe you already know us, but I want to introduce the band before the gig: "Dueto Canela" is us: Dalia Alvarez and Mario Lozano.
You guessed right, we are married. We have two boys and a girl, all grown ups.
We started performing as "Dalia & Mario" in our home town Guadalajara, while dating and still attending the music school of the state university (back in the 80's). We performed events for the university cultural office, for the state arts department and for the peña "Cuicacalli", the local place to listen folk and message songs. I remember some great musicians and composers among the dozen that shared the stage.
I also remember our first paid gig! A friend set us up for a sunday picnic in a sports club. The money we made then was barely worth the price of a decent dinner, but we were very pleased to having a paid performance.
Since then, we learned that it's worth doing a gig only if pays more than enough for a set of new guitar strings and a decent dine out.
So much love has been singed (and recorded) since those times, and we will share more of our memories...
Stay in Tune!
